Wet rot as its name suggests occurs when timbers become damp for prolonged
periods; anywhere from the loft to the floorboards can become affected if wood is left damp.
Dry Rot
Dry rot is much more serious, in our years of doing timber treatments, we have seen severe damage caused by
dry rot, and if left untreated it can cause the wood to literally crumble in your hands.
After you have contacted us, one of our qualified Surveyors will arrange a suitable time to carry out an inspection to your property.
We will then prepare a detailed report containing our recommendations for
treatment and any necessary remedial works.
Surveys to check for dry rot can require some exposure work such as lifting of floorboards but can also necessitate the removal a section of plaster to expose bare brickwork.
Dry rot can travel through thick masonry to attack more timber, it is important to ensure the survey reaches these areas.
Wet Rot Treatment
Firstly the source of ingress needs to be fixed, rotten timber must be replaced with industrial treated timber or inert materials and if needed treat sound timber for insect attack. Our professional craftsmen are more than capable of carrying out such repairs.
Dry Rot Treatment
At DAT Solutions we have the experience to stop and treat all forms of Dry Rot by irrigating the masonry and spraying the timber with low odour Micro Emulsion and replace damaged timber where necessary.
